God wants us to keep the sabbath holy. Skipping Sunday Mass, with no valid reason, is a sin.
THE SUNDAY EUCHARIST ACCORDING TO THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH (2177 and 2181)
"The Sunday celebration of the Lord's Day and his Eucharist is at the heart of the Church's life. "Sunday is the day on which the paschal mystery is celebrated in light of the apostolic tradition and is to be observed as the foremost holy day of obligation in the universal Church."
"The Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of all Christian practice. For this reason the faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin."
Since Sunday is a holy day of obligation, failure to attend and participate is a sin. However, there are circumstances where attendance to Holy Mass is not possible. Here, the catechism (2183) provides us a remedy:
"If because of lack of a sacred minister or for other grave cause participation in the celebration of the Eucharist is impossible, it is specially recommended that the faithful take part in the Liturgy of the Word if it is celebrated in the parish church or in another sacred place according to the prescriptions of the diocesan bishop, or engage in prayer for an appropriate amount of time personally or in a family or, as occasion offers, in groups of families."
This is a clear opposition to the Bible. Does this mean that catholicism really claim that she is above God?
ReplyDeleteThe article is consistent to what the scriptures are preaching. It is a grave sin against the commandments if we fail to keep the sabbath holy. In the book of Deuteronomy (5:12), God commanded His people to keep the sabbath holy and there is no better way to keep it holy than to celebrate the Eucharist in which the Lord Jesus Christ commanded His disciples to do during the last supper. Therefore, your assumption that the catholic church is above God is irrelevant and false. The Catholic Church preaches what the Bible contains, she also preaches the tradition handed down by the apostles and she also preaches with great authority since she was founded by Christ Himself.
ReplyDeleteThe 7th day is the Sabbath day not the first day.
DeleteWhat do you mean traditions that are handed down by the apostles? so the catholic church preaches two things: the Bible and the traditions. The apostles cannot in any way hand down traditions because the only preached what Christ has commanded them. walang bawas at dagdag ang ipinangturo ng mga apostol sa mga Iglesia ng Diyos na kanilang naitatag mula sa mga Gentil na tumanggap ng aral, at nagpasailalim sa aral. bungad mo pa lang eh hindi na ako maniniwala, na ang artikulo ay consistent sa scriptures. Meron bang "Eucharistia" sa Bibliya? May "holy communion" ba sa Bibliya? The Catholic Church is not founded by Christ himself.
ReplyDeleteBro, wag masyadong literal. Interpreting the Bible in a very literal sense is dangerous. The Catholic Church have three sources of truth: the Bible, the Sacred Traditions and the Magisterium. When we say traditions, these are truths which are not written in the Bible. Even the Bible mentioned that not all are written (read the last chapter of the book of John), and read 2 Thes. 2:15: "Therefore, brothers, stand firm and cling to the traditions we taught you, whether by speech or by letter."
ReplyDeleteThe word "eucharist" came from the greek word euchristia which means THANKSGIVING. The bible encourages us to be thankful always. Holy communion is in the Bible. Jesus wants his followers to commemorate His passion, death and resurrection through the breaking of the bread. "Do this in memory of Me," as He tells us.
Ang sekta ninyo ay ngayon lamang sumulpot. Wala pa ang pinuno ninyo, may Catholic Church na. Wala pa ang kahit anong denominasyon, nandito na ang Catholic Church. The only Church with an unbroken link of succession from the Apostle Peter in whom Christ built the Church, and no one, not even the gates of hell can prevail.
Why not concentrate on the bible alone?
